The Dallas Cowboys selected Connor Williams in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Here’s all you need to know about Williams, including our grade.

Strengths

Williams is a mountain of a man at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds. The former Texas Longhorns star should be able to stick at left tackle in his pro career, considering he was one of the country’s best players at that spot in 2016 before incurring injuries a season ago.

If there’s one thing about Williams’ game that stands above the rest, it is his technique. Rarely do you see Williams trying to reach when making a block, instead squaring up his opponent and getting into his chest. While he’ll have to continue getting stronger at the next level, his base should be good to go.

Weaknesses

Williams has the ability to play tackle in the NFL as was mentioned above, but the one concern is injury. The former All-American only played five games in 2017 due to knee problems, something you never want to hear for any athlete, let alone one carrying 320 pounds.

If the balky knee causes him to lose explosion, there’s a chance he gets kicked inside. Again, his technique and size should allow him to flourish there, but that would leave a hole open at tackle. The only other issue could be 33-inch arms, which is a bit on the short side for a tackle in the NFL.
