Columbus Blue Jackets: Steve from the Cannon Crew

While the Columbus Blue Jackets have never been in the playoffs long enough to grow their playoff facial hair, Steve from the Cannon Crew is sporting an all-time great beard. Steve rocks out to heavy metal music, having been to Europe for several festivals, as well as on two heavy metal cruises.

Steve is allergic to cats, but he owns two of them, proving that Steve is a badass and possesses a toughness level matching the rest of the players on this list. When he’s not firing the cannon in Columbus, he enjoys hockey, golf, paintball and pool. Steve also loves the movie Top Gun (who doesn’t), and tends to his beard with specialized shampoo, oil and conditioner.

The cannon crew in Columbus is an integral part of the team’s success. A (replica) cannon fires every time the Jackets take the ice, score a goal or win a game, which was not often in the early days. The Blu Jackets are looking up though, seemingly getting better each season.

Until the Jackets can get themselves through the first round, our friend Steve here is going to carry the torch for Columbus beard-growing ability. The future does look bright in Columbus. It likely won’t be long before we discover how well Artemi Panarin grows a playoff beard.
