MILWAUKEE, WI – APRIL 22: Christian Yelich

Number 12: Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers are a new look team with some changes in the offseason. After a surprise 86 win season in 2017, the Brew Crew added two really nice outfield pieces to put them over the top to compete in the NL Central.

Christian Yelich, who was brought in from Miami is hitting .320 so far this year. He’s a lifetime .291 hitter and adds a high-level left fielder to the mix. The other outfield piece they added was Lorenzo Cain the former Royal.

He’s hitting .298 so far with three homers. The Brewers as a team have the 12th highest batting average in the league with .247 average.

Eric Thames even though he’s hitting .250 he’s got seven homers in 22 games. He burst onto the scene last year with 31 bombs. When you add veteran Ryan Braun into the mix as well there are plenty of exciting pieces on offense.

On the mound, Junior Guerra is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA. Their ace Chase Anderson is starting off pretty hot, he’s 2-1 with a 3.25 ERA.

The Brewers are my sleeper pick for the NL Wild Card team. They’re more of an offensive team but they have sneaky solid pitching. Milwaukee hasn’t made the playoffs since 2011 when they were in the NLCS. Maybe that changes in 2018.
