MILWAUKEE, WI – APRIL 21: Jose Urena

Number 30: Miami Marlins

I genuinely feel bad for Marlins fans. For the fourth time in their 25 year history, the Marlins are blowing this thing up. The first two times, it was championship teams that were quickly disposed of.

The most recent time, previous to this fire sale, was after the 2012 season when they spent big money to bring in guys like Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell just the offseason prior.

It felt like the Marlins were finally recovering from that fire sale, and then Derek Jeter came in and once again cleaned house. The Marlins had, in my eyes, the best outfield in baseball with Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and Giancarlo Stanton. All three of those guys are playing on other teams.

The lone survivors are Justin Bour and J.T. Realmuto who has yet to play a game in 2018 due to injury.

In their first 21 games this year they are 5-16 with a .238 win percentage. Over a full season that works out to a 39-123 record. It’s highly unlikely that the Marlins finish with 120+ losses this year, but they’ve certainly lived up to the lack of competitiveness brand that was thrust upon them before the season started

Justin Bour we have to give credit to, he’s a legit first baseman but is it enough to watch them? No shot.

Cameron Maybin, who is somehow 31 years old even though it feels like he’s been in the league for an eternity, is an everyday player, their best prospect Lewis Brinson is hitting .151 and as a team they’re batting .224.

Buckle up Miami fans, it’s going to be a long 162 games for you.
