NBA Playoffs 2018: Warriors vs. Pelicans Game 2 live stream
By Jason Patt
Stephen Curry is expected to return as the Golden State Warriors look to go up 2-0 on the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Golden State Warriors didn’t need Stephen Curry in order to dominate Game 1 of their second-round series against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, Curry’s expected return in Tuesday’s Game 2 will be a welcome sight as the Warriors look to take control of this series and ultimately repeat as champions.
Golden State used a 41-point second quarter to pull away from the Pelicans and never look back in a 123-101 Game 1 triumph. Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green all stood out in the win. Thompson poured in 27 points to lead the Warriors, with Durant coming in just behind at 26 points. Green recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists, and his defense was key in limiting Anthony Davis and Co. to a substandard offensive showing.
Davis had 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting and was a game-worst minus-27 after dominating the Portland Trail Blazers in Round 1. Jrue Holiday also came back to earth after his incredible opening round with 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting to go along with a minus-23 plus-minus.
The Pelicans shot just 43.8 percent overall in Game 1 after shooting over 52 percent over the four games against Portland. A locked-in Warriors squad is a much different beast than the Blazers, so New Orleans is going to have to figure out a way to score consistently to keep up.

Curry’s return will require a brief adjustment period as Golden State reincorporates him into the lineup. Because of this and Pelicans adjustments, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a much closer Game 2. The beauty of Curry, though, is how he fits so seamlessly into the Warriors’ offense and typically improves his teammates by his mere presence. New Orleans has a tall task ahead of it, especially if Curry accomplishes his goal to “just not suck.”
