Main Slate – Orioles at Angels
Orioles Probable Starter – Dylan Bundy, RHP
2.97 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 10.90 K/9
Vs LHH – .355 average, .397 wOBA and 28.3 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .149 average, .229 wOBA and 30.8 hard contact rate
Bundy had been one of the best statistical pitchers this year up until his last start. Then he got ambushed by the red-hot Rays and will be looking to get back to his dominant ways. The splits suggest he has a somewhat decent chance because the Angels have a right handed dominant lineup. Granted, the righties are really good baseball players but the only lefties L.A. usually puts out there is Luis Valbuena, Kole Calhoun and Shohei Ohtani. If we were getting some type of discount after his disaster of a last start, Bundy might be worth taking a shot at in GPP’s. However, he’s still pretty expensive and I’ll pass on him tonight. I also wouldn’t heavily pick on him but there’s a bat or two that’s in play.
Angels Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Shohei Ohtani
Secondary Options – Mike Trout, Justin Upton, Ian Kinsler
Angels Probable Starter – Andrew Heaney, LHP
6.91 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 13.81 K/9
Vs LHH – .364 average, .357 wOBA and 12.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .286 average, .374 wOBA and 40.0 hard contact rate
One of the pitchers that is in the worst spots tonight is Andrew Heaney. He’s facing an Orioles lineup that is very righty heavy and the couple main lefties that should be in have the power to take him out of the yard in a heartbeat. He gives up a lower average to righty hitters but also gives more power, so we know where to go here. There is still slight potential that Heaney could actually be productive in this matchup because Baltimore is very feast or famine. Even though it’s only a 14 inning sample size, Heaney has been striking out batters at an impressive clip. That’s not what the Orioles bats wants to see but I’m still chasing some of the Orioles hitters this evening.
