Liverpool jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first leg against Roma behind Mohamed Salah’s two goals. The second leg moves to Rome with the English side holding a commanding lead, with Salah returning to face his former team. However, Roma proved in the last round that they can complete massive comebacks, beating Barcelona 3-0 to advance to the semifinals. Roma will again need to win by three goals if they want to advance.

Eusebio Di Francesco elected to rotate most of his squad over the weekend as Roma defeated Chievo 4-1. In the second leg against Barcelona, Di Francesco went to a back three for the first time all season. The formation change paid off and Di Francesco might decide to go back to a back three against Liverpool. Roma scored two late away goals to give them life in the second leg. Edin Dzeko scored in the first leg and twice over the weekend, giving him 23 goals in all competitions. Roma need Dzeko to be one of the best players on Wednesday if they are going to come back again.

The Liverpool front three was incredible in the first leg. Sadio Mane, Robert Firmino and Salah all scored and looked unstoppable for most of the game. However, Liverpool lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Jurgen Klopp might decide to be more conservative in the second leg and try to hold onto the lead. However, given the Reds ability to attack, they might be better off continuing to press aggressively.
