16. Scottie Pippen over Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing was consistently getting the worst from the old Bulls and Knicks rivalry. Despite how great Jordan’s dunk over Ewing was, Scottie Pippen might have done him one better.

This is dunk is a case study on why it might be overrated to get back on defense. After Chicago starts the break after a blocked shot, you can see Ewing on the left wing turn and sprint to get back on defense, and is in the paint with just enough time to turn and see Pippen coming full speed ahead ready to drop one on Ewings flattop — and boy was it rude.

Pippen’s momentum carried him right into the body of the falling Ewing, and instead of stopping and turning away, Pippen steps over Ewing and then talks a bit of trash to Spike Lee sitting courtside wearing a John Starks jersey.

“I said something that I wouldn’t want to repeat today,” Pippen said of his words to Lee. “But if you could get a professional lip reader maybe he can figure it out.”

Ewing’s Knicks could never find a way to get past Chicago in the postseason, and demoralizing plays like these — in the Garden no less — is a huge reason why the Bulls were just too much for the Knicks.
