12. John Starks over Horace Grant and Michael Jordan

The Chicago Bulls didn’t have a monopoly on classic moments from this rivalry. Both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen had an epic dunk over Patrick Ewing, but John Starks turned the corner on BJ Armstrong and absolutely destroyed Jordan and Horace Grant.

There’s something fun about guys who get off the ground in a hurry and Starks jumps off the MSG hardwood like a cartoon rocket ship ready to get from Earth to the moon in a matter of seconds. The acceleration rate was unmatched by anyone Chicago could have thrown at him and the result was one of the best moments in NBA history.

Baseline jams should have their own corner in the Basketball Hall of Fame because some of the most epic dunks have come with a guy doing as much damage as possible with as little room as possible.

Starks dunk gets extra credit because of the moment. The Knicks were nursing a three-point lead with just under a minute to play when Starks hammered home the dunk, putting them up five with the entire crowd at MSG losing their collective minds.

Jordan didn’t get bested often during his playing years, but Starks got the best of the entire Bulls squad on that single play that will go down as one of the most memorable dunks in NBA history.
