In the DraftKings late slate of games, your best option to win some cash is to stack Red Sox hitters.

There are 11 games being played in baseball on Wednesday. With game times ranging from 1:05 to 10:10, DraftKings does not have a slate featuring all 11 games. There are a couple for the afternoon games, some excluding the 1 PM games and a couple for the night games. That’s what I’m focusing on.

The late slate features just four games, making the player pool extremely small. Those games are BOX/TEX, MIN/CWS, BAL/LAA and OAK/SEA. There is enough talent on those eight teams to draft a competitive lineup but you’re going to have to have a couple of bargains, too.

As usual, DraftKings gives you a $50,000 budget to fill in two pitcher spots, a catcher, each infield spot and three outfield spots. The prices for this slate range from over $11,000 for a pitcher down to $2,000 for the bench and part-time options.

More from FanSided

I avoided spending over $10,000 for a single player, which allowed me to spend a little bit more for my hitters. I also tried to pick some hot bats while picking low-owned hitters so I don’t have the same score as everyone else.

P: David Price ($9,700)

P: Reynaldo Lopez ($7,600)

I went with these two pitchers because of their recent success and their matchup. Price will pitch against the injured Texas Rangers while Lopez faces the struggling Minnesota Twins.

Price didn’t pitch well in his last start against Tampa but looking past that, he had three 20-plus point games in his last five starts. He is likely to give up a home run but his offense will score enough runs to earn him the win.

Lopez gave up a few too many walks in his previous starts, 13 in a three-game stretch. He has a combined 15.6 points in his previous two games but this is a get-right game against the Twins. And, the price is just right.

Other options: Sean Manaea ($11,200), Jaime Barria ($4,000)

C: Robinson Chirinos ($3,100)

1B: Hanley Ramirez ($4,400)

2B: Jed Lowrie ($4,500)

3B: Eduardo Escobar ($3,900)

SS: Tim Anderson ($3,500)

The catching pool is abysmal for these four games. Chirinos looks like the best option. You could go with Mike Zunino but he’ll face the red-hot Sean Manaea. Wellington Castillo and Jonathan Lucroy aren’t consistent. Yes, Chirinos faces Price but Texas will get a hit or two. Maybe Chirinos will drive in a run.

Ramirez and the rest of the Red Sox will hit against Mike Minor. That is a prime matchup. Minor doesn’t pitch that deep into games. He’s given up a few crooked numbers in his starts. Picking Ramirez is more about the pitcher than him.

I’m riding the Lowrie train. He faces Wade LeBlanc in another favorable matchup. He’s scored 14 and 19 points against Seattle in the two games this series. He’ll rack up another double-digit point game and he’s well worth the price.

Escobar is another contradiction as he’ll hit against Lopez. But, like Chirinos, someone has to hit for his team. I don’t trust Matt Davidson or Matt Chapman enough to pick them. They can go off in any game but what makes me think it’ll be this game? I’ll go with Escobar here.

Anderson is a big surprise so far this season. He averages 7.9 points per game this season. Hitting against Jake Odorizzi in this game, another pitcher who has struggled this season. Anderson could hit his fifth home run of the season.

Other options: Jose Abreu ($4,100), Manny Machado ($5,100), Andrelton Simmons ($3,800)

OF: Mookie Betts ($5,700)

OF: Dee Gordon ($3,900)

OF: Shin-soo Choo ($3,600)

With the money I saved at catcher and shortstop, I was able to spend big on Betts. He had another three-home run game. I don’t expect that but one home run with three RBIs won’t hurt either.

Gordon is racking up the hits with four-straight multi-hit games. Manaea may shut down the Mariners but he won’t be able to keep Gordon off the bases. And for under $4,000, that’s a bargain for a player of his caliber.

Choo is the second Rangers hitter I picked against Price. He doesn’t have that one monster game, scoring over 30 points, but Choo is capable of scoring eight to 12 points every game. Choo’s scored most of his points from RBIs and drawing walks. He’ll need his teammates to get on base for the former to happen.

Other options: Daniel Palka ($3,600), Eddie Rosario ($3,700), Delino DeShields ($3,500)

Next: Montgomery out 6-8 weeks

This is a hard slate of games to pick from, especially for starting pitching. Unless you want to spend on Manaea or Price, you’re going to struggle to find a sleeper. The hitter pool still has talent but they come at a price. This makes finding those right matchups more important than usual.
