NBA Playoffs 2018: Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans Game 3 live stream: Watch online
By Jason Patt
Stephen Curry returns to the starting lineup as the Golden State Warriors try to take a 3-0 series lead over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Stephen Curry made waves in his return to the Golden State Warriors in their 121-116 Game 2 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry scored 28 points and was a plus-26 off the bench in the victory, but now the two-time MVP will take his rightful place in the starting lineup for Friday night’s Game 3 in New Orleans.
Curry looked healthy in Game 2, but he only played 27 minutes as he works to get his conditioning back. It’s reasonable to expect that number to go up a bit in Game 3, at least depending on how the game is going.
The Pelicans put forth a valiant effort in Game 2 after getting smoked in Game 1. The contest was still hanging in the balance midway through the fourth quarter when Steve Kerr turned to the Hamptons 5, which is when the Warriors pulled away. Kevin Durant took over after a sluggish first three quarters, scoring 15 of his game-high 29 points in the final frame.
Draymond Green nearly notched a triple-double with 20 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds. Green also played his irritant role perfectly as he got into it with multiple Pelicans and helped fire up the home crowd. Watch for things to get chippy with Green as the series shifts to a hostile environment.
New Orleans will certainly be hoping for a more favorable whistle after getting the short end of it at Oracle Arena. The Pelicans only took nine free throws in Game 2, with Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday combining for zero attempts despite getting up 48 field goal attempts. New Orleans has taken just 20 free throws this series to 59 for Golden State.

The Pelicans did well to put up a fight in Game 2, and being back on their home court should be a plus. However, the Warriors didn’t play close to their best game (see: Klay Thompson’s 4-of-20 shooting night) and still won without drama in the final few minutes. New Orleans is going to have to really bring it to make this series interesting.
