Marlins at Reds

Marlins Probable Starter – Caleb Smith, LHP

4.40 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 12.87 K/9

Vs LHH – .200 average, .259 wOBA and 35.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .187 average, .300 wOBA and 38.3 hard contact rate

One thing pitchers don’t want to do when pitching in Cincinnati is to give up gobs of fly balls. They tend to end up in the seats more often than most parks. Smith is giving up almost 58 percent fly ball rate so far this season to righty hitters. His strikeout rate is through the roof which could help him survive tonight. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to have a righty or two in your lineup from the Reds. It’s pretty much going to be a lot of the same names as yesterday. The Reds are all close to the same price they were and any righty could be used. Joey Votto is always in play, even against lefties.

Reds Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Adam Duvall, Eugenio Suarez, Tucker Barnhart

Secondary Options – Joey Votto

Reds Probable Starter – Tyler Mahle, RHP

4.32 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 10.26 K/9

Vs LHH – .239 average, .370 wOBA and 44.7 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .283 average, .326 wOBA and 38.1 hard contact rate

If the Marlins offense was better, this could potentially be a great spot for them tonight. They flopped last night, only producing one run. Even if some of the metrics make sense, it’s hard to trust Miami. J.T. Realmuto is a good baseball player. However, when he’s your most dangerous hitter, your offense is flat out not good. Just like the Reds, we have the same targets as yesterday. Realmuto is getting a little expensive at $3,500 but Justin Bour is still under $3,000 and on the side of the splits that carries a higher wOBA and hard contact rate. Any other Marlins hitter likely doesn’t carry the upside you’re looking for.
