FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Sunday, May 6
Rockies at Mets
Rockies Probable Starter – Kyle Freeland, LHP
4.24 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 7.94 K/9
Vs LHH – .167 average, .257 wOBA and 12.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .260 average, .334 wOBA and 29.8 hard contact rate
Many players automatically assume Rockies pitching is better away form Coors but that’s not always the case. Freeland has been significantly worse in both seasons of his career. Maybe since their pitchers have to learn how to pitch at Coors, it messes them up elsewhere. We definitely have some interest in righty hitters for the Mets today. All of his stats jump up on the road. Wilmer Flores is likely to be very chalky today and it dirt cheap as usual. It’d be nice to see FanDuel raise his price against lefties. Any righty batter for the Mets is in play today for sure.
Mets Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Yoenis Cespedes, Todd Frazier, Wilmer Flores, Asdrubal Cabrera
Secondary Options – Amed Rosario, Juan Lagares
Mets Probable Starter – Noah Syndergaard, RHP
3.10 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 10.84 K/9
Vs LHH – .260 average, .290 wOBA and 27.3 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .238 average, .280 wOBA and 22.8 hard contact rate
This side of the game is very easy to analyze. I’m not targeting anyone against Noah Syndergaard unless it’s a leverage play in a tournament. The man they call Thor does represent a nice $1,500 discount form the big name ace in Washington but the Rockies offense can always show up. Still, the Rockies as a team do struggle against righties on the road. He’s for sure a tournament play and could wind up in a cash lineup.

Home Run Pick – Yoenis Cespedes
Phillies at Nationals
Phillies Probable Pitcher – Jake Arrieta, RHP
3.49 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 6.35 K/9
Vs LHH – .204 average, .219 wOBA and 14.7 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .222 average, .299 wOBA and 19.2 hard contact rate
Arrieta may not be the most attractive option to play at pitcher today with his limited strikeout ceiling. Even if he can hold the Nationals offense in check, he’s likely not going to get a win and hasn’t struck out more than five batters unless he’s played the Pirates. Since the splits aren’t massive, I’m likely just going to stick with the bigger names for the Nationals. It needs to be noted the Arrieta is getting ground balls over 60 percent of the time.
Nationals Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Bryce Harper
Secondary Options – Trea Turner(stolen base upside is very large), Matt Adams
Nationals Probable Starter – Max Scherzer, RHP
1.79 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 12.90 K/9
Vs LHH – .162 average, .244 wOBA and 26.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .161 average, .207 wOBA and 50.0 hard contact rate
There’s always a small concern with Scherzer because he’s a fly ball pitcher. They’ve spiked up over 50 percent in 2018 and there’s always a chance that those balls can start going over the fence. Still, Scherzer is one of the best pitchers in the league and his strikeouts are also the highest rate of his career. The only hitter that I’m even going to list is Rhys Hoskins. He’s got the power to take Scherzer out of the yard if you’re looking for an against the grain tournament play.
