Napoli host Torino at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples on Sunday, May 6 with the title still on the line. Here’s what you need to know before tuning in.

Napoli’s Serie A title bid came undone this past Sunday following a 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina. That, coupled with Juventus’ dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Inter Milan, puts the Partenopei four points behind the Bianconeri with three matchdays left in the season.

After two consecutive away games, Napoli return home to the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday to play Torino. The Granata, currently in 10th place, have nothing to play for after being safe from relegation and out of Europa League contention, while Napoli have not giving up yet on a scudetto that now appears out of its grasp.

Napoli are without star defender Kalidou Koulibaly, suspended after being red-carded early on against Fiorentina, while Torino should have their full squad at their disposal. Napoli’s most-recent loss has spurred lots of rumors that the bulk of manager Maurizio Sarri’s players will abandon the team at the end of this season. Players, such as striker Dries Mertens, could abandon ship for the Premier League.

As for the upcoming Torino match, Arkadiusz Milik could get the start, replacing Mertens, while Koulibaly will be replaced by defender Lorenzo Tonelli. At the same time, Sarri is said to want to drop captain Marek Hamsik from the squad for Sunday’s game in favor of Piotr Zielinski. Hamsik has said through his agent that he is puzzled as to why Sarri has played him sparingly this season.

Torino President Urbano Cairo, meanwhile, has assured that his side will “try to honor the league” ahead of his team’s match with Napoli. While Cairo would like to see Napoli win the title over its city rivals Juventus, he added, “The important thing for Napoli now is to keep their feet on the ground… as long as you don’t lose your head.”

This comes as it was announced this week that Napoli and Juventus will play their final two games of the season at the same time. Napoli travel to Sampdoria on May 13, when Juventus visit Roma. Napoli take on Crotone at home as Juventus finish their season by hosting Hellas Verona on May 20.

Napoli defeated Torino 3-1 when the sides met previously this season during matchday 17.

The Partenopei absolutely need to win on Sunday in order to keep its title hopes alive. The Napoli faithful certainly believe they can still happen given the enthusiasm they have showed for their club over the past few weeks. Indeed, the 60,000-seat San Paolo could feature a capacity crowd after 11,000 tickets alone were sold on Monday in a span of just three hours.
