The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their second-round series. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.

The Pittsburgh Penguins might be the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions but they are one loss away from seeing their chances of a three-peat over. The Washington Capitals won 6-3 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead. Washington now has the chance to exercise their playoff demons in Pittsburgh and eliminate the Penguins.

After tearing through the playoffs in his first two seasons in net, Matt Murray has regressed. The Penguins goalie has a .899 save percentage against the Capitals and will have to play better in Game 6 if Pittsburgh is going to force Game 7.

Derick Brassard was acquired ahead of the NHL trade deadline to give the Penguins a third line scoring center. Brassard has failed to deliver. The Penguins center has only one point in five games against Washington. Pittsburgh needs players besides Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel to score. Crosby and Guentzel have combined for 15 points in the series.

In franchise history, Washington and Pittsburgh have met in the playoffs 10 times. The Penguins have won nine times. Washington can eliminate Pittsburgh for the first time since 1994. The Capitals have been getting scoring throughout their lines in the series. Eight different Washington players have at least four points.

However, for Washington to eliminate Pittsburgh, they will need long time faces of the franchise, Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom to be big in Game 6. Backstrom was injured in the third period of Game 5 and did not return. However, the Swedish center is expected to play in Game 6.
