The San Francisco Giants have gotten a surprise year out of lefty Ty Blach.

With huge injuries such as the Johnny Cueto scare, the San Francisco Giants are holding their breath. The club went all in this season as it is an even year. Furthermore, their farm system doesn’t have anything going in the near future. With that said, the club has gotten huge value form young left-hander Ty Blach.

This season, the southpaw has compiled a 3.60 ERA in 45 innings pitched. He has struck out 22 guys in that span while giving up only two home runs. That may be due to the fact that his home field is AT &T Park, where the fences are insanely deep, although the lefty is efficient in mixing up his fastball and off-speed stuff.

Based on his performance so far, the youngster can anchor the pitching staff until guys like Cueto and Madison Bumgarner come back healthy. The team has a steep hill to climb with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, but they have a shot.

This looks like the Giants’ last run at a ring before the window of contention shuts for a while. They have veterans who know how to win and can play in the playoffs, so it’s all a matter of putting it all together. Blach has been a light in the dark in terms of the dire pitching staff, and the club has supported him.

Also, the staff will be even stronger when the top dogs come back. Basically, the club can trust Blach to provide reliable run prevention every start. He has gone up against good lineups and has shown he can pitch in the big moment. Overall, Ty Blach has saved this pitching staff from becoming a garbage fire. He will be an intriguing story to watch as the season chugs on.
