NBA Playoffs 2018: Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans Game 5 live stream: Watch online
By Jason Patt
The Golden State Warriors have an opportunity to advance to the Western Conference Finals when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 5.
After getting smoked in Game 3, Steve Kerr decided to turn to his five best players to start the Golden State Warriors’ Game 4 matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Hamptons Five delivered in convincing fashion, setting up the Warriors with a chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night.
Golden State never trailed and ran out to a 14-point lead within six minutes in its 118-92 shellacking of New Orleans in Game 4. Kevin Durant and the rest of the Hamptons Five set the tone with their early dominance, and Kerr will again turn to that unit of Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green to start Game 5.
Durant had 38 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the way on Sunday. Curry bounced back from a sluggish Game 3 to record 23 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Green and Iguodala didn’t have prolific scoring numbers, but they both stuffed the stat sheet and ramped up the defense to shut down a Pelicans offense that had just torched them the game before.
New Orleans shot only 36.4 percent overall and a woeful 4-of-26 on 3-pointers, to go along with 19 turnovers that led to 21 Golden State points. Anthony Davis had 26 points to lead the Pelicans, but he shot 8-of-22 from the field and coughed the ball up six times. Former Warrior Ian Clark followed up his revenge Game 3 by missing all seven of his 3-point attempts in Game 4.

If the Warriors are locked in and come out with the necessary focus in Game 5, this series will be over. The Pelicans surely won’t lay over and die, though, so the defending champs can’t take them lightly and expect a cakewalk.
