The relegation battle could be determined on Monday when Swansea host Southampton at Liberty Stadium. The two clubs are level on points with two games remaining. Swansea are 18th, just behind Southampton who are ahead on goal differential.
Swansea lost 1-0 to Bournemouth on Saturday. The loss was the Swans third in a row and third game they failed to score a goal. Carlos Carvalhal’s have picked up only two points in their last six games. Swansea need to score goals if they are going to stay up. The Swans and Huddersfield have scored only 27 goals this season, the fewest in the Premier League. Jordan Ayew leads the club with seven goals but has only scored once in the last four games.
Southampton drew 1-1 with Everton on Saturday. The draw extended the Saints undefeated streak. Southampton have picked up five points in their last three games to get out of the bottom three for the first time since March. The Saints will rely on Charlie Austin and Dusan Tadic to push the attack. Austin and Tadic have combined for 13 goals this season. Southampton need to win on Monday. If they do not, they will have to beat Manchester City on Saturday.
