5. Embrace Enes Kanter

Kanter is understandably one of the most polarizing players in the NBA. On the offensive end of the floor he is one of the best post players in the game. Unfortunately, his utter lack of ability to guard anyone erases almost all of his value.

Kanter has a player option for next season that he will almost certainly exercise. It’s impossible to imagine him earning anywhere near $18 million anywhere else. That means that Fizdale is going to be stuck with Kanter on the roster.

Given that fact, Fizdale has no choice but to embrace what Kanter can do for the team. What he can do, is bludgeon NBA defenders with his excellent post game. When he’s on the floor, Fizdale needs to make sure he touches the ball in the post on nearly every possession. If that doesn’t happen he’s never going to be a net positive for the Knicks.

Fizdale must focus on what Kanter can do rather than getting bogged down with what he can’t do. It’s the only recipe for his success and sanity in dealing with the enigmatic big man.
