6 steps David Fizdale can take to revitalize the New York Knicks
4. Banish Joakim Noah
Noah was once one of the most prideful, impactful defenders in the NBA. Sadly, injuries and Father Time have robbed him of his once prodigious talent. Fizdale needs to permanently cut the cord between Noah and the Knicks.
Some might argue that he should try to rehabilitate his career to facilitate a trade to get his salary off the books. That isn’t going to happen. Noah’s body won’t let him hold up long enough to convince another team he’s worth the money.
Noah is quite simply, a sunk cost. The team might elect to stretch him or buy him out in the future, but that’s not something Fizdale can control. What the new coach can do, is make sure Noah isn’t around the team to poison any of his younger players.
The answer for Fizdale is pretty simple. He just needs to lock Noah out of the building and keep him away from the team altogether. It’s sad for Noah but it’s what’s best for the Knicks.
