4. Derek Carr

In 2015, Carr seemed to have everything rolling. His numbers were improving. Wins, yards, completion percentage, and touchdowns were all up from the year before. Then, in 2016, his wins and yards went up, interceptions were down, and so were touchdowns. In addition he led the Raiders to seven fourth quarter comebacks and game-winning drives.

Then it went south in 2017. The talent around him was the worst of his career, and the team’s record and his numbers took a nosedive. His numbers in all major statistical categories were worse than they were in 2016.

There’s change brewing in Oakland, though. The Raiders added two wide receivers, Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant, to go along with Amari Cooper. They hope the three of them together can help Carr reach the next level of his career, an MVP-caliber season.

If the three wide receivers can play up to their full potential, there’s no telling what heights this team can reach. If they do, Carr will undoubtedly be in the discussion for the MVP. If everyone on this list plays to the best of their abilities, it’ll be hard for him to win it. That said, he will be in the discussion if the Raiders play up to their full potential.
