2. Sam Darnold, QB, New York Jets

The biggest question in New York isn’t if Sam Darnold will play in 2018, but when. Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles have aleady come out and said he will have a chance to win the starting job in training camp. There’s a narrative that Bowles doesn’t like to play his young players. However, Joe Caporoso of Turn on the Jets actually showed us why that narrative is a false one.

So, if they do give him a chance to win the job, and he does, Darnold has some talent to work with. Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson are skilled on the outside, with both nearing the 1,000-yard mark in their last seasons, respectively. Then there is Terrelle Pryor, who is trying to rebound after his failed campaign with the Washington Redskins. They also have several backs who can catch it out of the backfield.

He has the talent to get the ball to his receivers. For Darnold, it’s about getting to know the playbook and developing chemistry. If he can do that and earn the nod for Week 1, he will be a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
