Welcome to the Saturday edition of the FanDuel daily fantasy MLB column! We have a nice eight game slate on tap for tonight so let’s get after it.

Well, there’s not any other way to say it other than last night was pretty rough. Coors Field went off for double digit runs and our lineup got left in the dust. We’ve been riding the see-saw lately and this is exactly why you play the same amount every night. Tonight is a new night and a fresh start for another nice little streak.

Mets at Phillies

Mets Probable Starter – Noah Syndergaard, RHP

3.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 10.41 K/9

Vs LHH – .270 average, .311 wOBA and 26.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .234 average, .290 wOBA and 23.1 hard contact rate

It speaks to the type of pitcher Syndergaard is and the expectations he has when the case can be made that he hasn’t been quite as good as we thought this season. He’s only had one start with more than eight strikeouts and less than four earned runs given up. The Phillies do strikeout at the second highest rate against righties so maybe this is the game that Syndergaard “rights the ship” and dominates tonight. They are average in many categories past strikeout rate and Syndergaard is definitely interesting tonight. I really won’t have any Phillies bats, even in tournaments.

Phillies Bats to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Odubel Herrera

Phillies Probable Starter – Zach Eflin, RHP

0.71 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 9.24 K/9

Vs LHH – .125 average, .235 wOBA and 44.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .179 average, .206 wOBA and 22.7 hard contact rate

I’m not letting two really dominant starts derail my thinking of Eflin not being a good major leaguer. He’s still 24 years old and maybe he’s taken a step forward but he’s not nearly this good. Eflin has a fly ball rate of over 40 percent which is going to come back and bite him at some point. Last year, Eflin didn’t see major splits depending on the handedness of the batter and the Mets are a very sneaky stack for GPPs. In a limited sample size of 17 batters faced, Eflin has given up a 75 percent fly ball rate to lefties to go along with a 44.0 hard contact rate. They might not be a cash game play just in case Eflin still has another good start up his sleeve.

Mets Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Michael Conforto, Jay Bruce, Asdrubal Cabrera

Secondary Options – Yoenis Cespedes, Adrian Gonzalez, Brandon Nimmo
