Twins at Angels

Twins Probable Starter – Kyle Gibson, RHP

3.49 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 10.24 K/9

Vs LHH – .197 average, .258 wOBA and 37.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .205 average, .285 wOBA and 38.2 hard contact rate

Usually the Angels are a great stack option and plenty of them are cash game options. It may seem crazy to say this, but I’m not going to go crazy with Angels hitters tonight. Gibson has actually been a decent pitcher and he has the ability to shut down even really good lineups. He struck out 10 Yankee hitters in New York three starts ago. That’s not a likely outcome tonight but I have enough respect for what Gibson could do to not mess around with him. Righty hitters do have better success against him which does work in the favor of the Angels.

Angels Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Mike Trout

Secondary Options – Justin Upton, Ian Kinsler, Zack Cozart

Angels Probable Starter – Nick Tropeano, RHP

3.42 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7.61 K/9

Vs LHH – .282 average, .317 wOBA and 37.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .159 average, .292 wOBA and 51.6 hard contact rate

The splits look like we should be picking lefty bats against Tropeano and they’re not a bad play at all. The hard contact rate against righties goes along with a fly ball percentage of 54.8. That screams regression in a major way. The Twins stack really looks appealing and I believe that the ERA and WHIP for Tropeano is very misleading for how he’s actually been pitching.

Twins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Brian Dozier, Logan Morrison, Eddie Rosario, Eduardo Escobar

Secondary Options – Byron Buxton, Joe Mauer

Home Run Pick – Eddie Rosario
