Tiger Woods was not messing around on Saturday, when he shot 65 to move up 60 spots at The Players Championship.

Tiger Woods barely made the cut going into Round 3 of The Masters, but when he took the TPC Sawgrass course early on the morning Saturday, he was not messing around. He shot 65 — a career-best on the course for Woods — and moved 60 spots in 11 holes to be tied with Jordan Spieth, who also shot 65, for eighth at the end of their rounds at T-9.

According to ESPNW, after the round Woods explained, “I finally got off to a good start. I birdied the first couple of holes, and I just kept it rolling from there. I hit a lot of good shots today. It was nice to see a few putts go in.”

He hit 11 of 14 fairways, 15 of 18 greens and needed just 27 putts. He birdied four of the first five holes, as well as at 7 and 9.

Of course, that was all two hours before leader Webb Simpson even teed off, but Woods is still on the front page of the leaderboard through at least the first subsequent three hours. As of post time, Simpson retained the lead, chased by Ian Poulter, Danny Lee, Charl Schwartzel and Jason Dufner.

This is just Woods’ eighth official start since back surgery in April 2017 and while he may still be aways from getting back into a championship-caliber groove, he’s showing he can still capture the golf world’s attention and strike fear into the hearts of the competition on any given Saturday.

Tune in on Sunday — tee time TBD — to see what magic Tiger has in store for Sunday.
