2. Giancarlo Stanton

There was a lot of early consternation about the way Stanton started his career in New York. As most sane people predicted, the talented outfielder has started to break out of his protracted slump in a big way.

Just like Judge, Stanton is also on a tear over the past week. The two share identical batting averages at .391. Both players also have three home runs in the same stretch. Stanton still lags behind Judge in terms of .OBP, but that’s a minor criticism.

The exciting thing about Stanton is that he still has room to improve. He’s never going to become the most patient hitter on the planet, but his power output can improve. Stanton’s shown the ability to really go on long runs of power hitting in the past. It’s possible we’re just seeing the beginning of such a run from the slugger right now.

Yankee haters don’t want to hear this, but Stanton is really starting to heat up. It’s not a stretch to say that he could outhit Judge by the end of the season. If that happens, he could add an AL MVP Award to his trophy case.
