Outfielder Clint Frazier is a top prospect for many reasons, so could he now be getting his shot?

The New York Yankees have had one of the deepest farm systems in baseball. With that said, it has been hard to get all their youngsters playing time. Furthermore, New York has a ton of promising youth, so it’s hard to keep track of them all. One guy who’s gotten left out is Clint Frazier.

The outfielder is seen as a future offensive presence, one who could hit 20-25 homers a year. Also, he has speed that is plus for the base paths, and has a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately, he hasn’t translated his hit tool to the major leagues in his recent stint. But he has mashed in Triple-A so far, hitting .362 with three home runs in 52 plate appearances.

Could Frazier be getting his shot, now that he’s getting called up? Hopefully the youngster makes the most out of his opportunity, as he could be auditioning for another team. The Yankees have an surplus of outfielders, so unless Frazier tears it up right now, it isn’t likely he’s in New York for long. The Yankees could use another starting pitcher, and Frazier would be the blue chip that very few clubs have.

Thus, an extended stint to showcase his value isn’t a bad idea. That will give other teams more time to watch him and make sure he’s the real deal. Ultimately, he is in control of his own destiny. If he wants to play, he needs to play his way out of New York. Frazier has the tools to become an All-Star, it’s just a matter of putting it all together.

The outfielder’s best bet is for another team to acquire him, as he would surely be an everyday player on some other squads. A situation like the Wade Davis-Jorge Soler trade a year ago could happen. Soler always had the tools for success, he was just struggling as he didn’t get much playing time. That is also what is happening with Frazier.

Frazier will be an interesting storyline to watch with the Yankees. His production at the plate will determine his stock for his club and all those interested. Hopefully, it’s on the up and up.
