The fifth and final season of The Originals continues on Wednesday night with episode 5, “Don’t it Just Break Your Heart.” Here are the details on how to watch the episode online.

Last week on The Originals, Freya took a trip to Mystic Falls to talk to Hope and give her the Mikaelson version of the with great power comes great responsibility. Only in the Mikaelson family it is more with great power comes the potential to destroy the world.

Hope may only be 15, but she is the most powerful supernatural being ever. Too bad all she has really used her powers for this season is for selfish reasons or plans that are not well thought out. Turning Henry into a hybrid was to save him from bullies. But it just led to him being killed and increased the tensions between the supernatural factions of New Orleans.

Then there is the little stunt Hope pulled in order to see Klaus again, make it look like Hayley had disappeared. Only Klaus’ enemies have made Hayley’s disappearance real. And Hope is left back in Mystic Falls feeling guilty about the role she played in her mother going missing.

So, Hope is now joining the quest to find Hayley, with some help from Roman. In addition to helping with the plot for this season, all time spent with Hope at school is now set up for the Hope centric spin off coming next year.

Titled Legacies, this spin off will expand on the glimpses of Hope’s life at school.Matt Davis’ Alaric will actually be seen again rather than just talked about. And his twins, Lizzie and Josie, who sound like they may be the school mean girls will be main characters.

But this is all happening after The Originals ends. Right now, the most important thing about the school, is that Hope happens to go there. One of the great benefits to Hope now being a teenager is that she can be more involved in the action. And this episode might be the start of Hope using her powers to join the fight to bring her mother home.
