2018 NBA Mock Draft: The lottery is done and the order is set

This week, Robinson let NBA teams know that he will not be participating in either the on-court or off-court portions of the draft combine. After a very weird season, one in which he decommitted twice from Western Kentucky, Robinson now is asking NBA teams to take a chance on him with little to no real data or video on which to base their decision.

In early March, Robinson told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, “I’m just gonna have to kill the workouts,” in response to questions about how the decision to skip his one required college season might affect his stock heading toward the draft. One would have assumed at that point Robinson was going to be a busy man at this week’s combine, telling his side of the Western Kentucky story and showing why his incredible high school statistics were legit.

Now, he’ll be in Dallas, where he’s been training all year in anticipation of the June 21 NBA Draft. Givony wrote at the time of that workout that Robinson’s performance was reminiscent of Kentucky’s Willie Cauley-Stein, who flashed wild offensive skill, shooting off the bounce and slamming impressive dunks. Givony said it seemed to him Robinson was pacing himself in anticipation of the combine and individual workouts.

Now, we won’t get to see. But the Pacers are ahead of schedule, and some team has to take the chance on Robinson. His development could allow Indiana to move on from one of their current bigs ahead of schedule.
