2018 NBA Mock Draft: The lottery is done and the order is set
Musa is rounding into shape as the best draft-and-stash prospect in the draft, having just turned 19 and looking like one of the best pure shooters in this class. As the Bulls head toward a few years of losing, stashing Musa early in the rebuild could pay dividends for them by the time they look to compete.
For about a month from April 18 to May 13, Musa scored in double digits in every game. Cedevita also won each of those six games, despite Musa shooting just 28 percent from 3. He has become a more balanced player as the season has gone on, building on a 36-point, 10-assist, 8-rebound showing in early April to the consistency he has shown since.
Most importantly, Musa has been earning playing time in a basketball universe in which young players often don’t. Though his last start was all the way back on March 3, Musa really hasn’t missed a beat, jacking shots off the bench and becoming a better facilitator against worse defenses along the way. That’s probably what his NBA role will look like.
As the Bulls look to add players who will fit into coach Fred Hoiberg’s system, they should have their eyes on Musa. He is a smart offensive player who has a feel for a bend or turn in the wrong direction the instant it happens and knows how to attack those mistakes. He would fit nicely next to Lauri Markkanen on that end of the floor.
