Juventus wrapped up their seventh straight title last weekend after a scoreless draw with Roma. The seven consecutive titles are tied with Lyon for most consecutive championships in a big five European league. Verona have already been relegated to Serie B next season.
After winning their fourth straight Coppa Italia midweek, Juventus finished the week with their seventh title. Gianluigi Buffon has been Juventus’ starting keeper since signing with the club from Parma in 2001 for a world record transfer fee for a keeper. Buffon announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season. The 40-year-old has not officially retired but Sunday will be his final game in a Juventus jersey in Turin. The home fans will give Buffon an incredible send off in his final game with the club. In his 17 years with the club, Buffon has appeared in 655 games across all competitions.
Verona deserve to be relegated. No team has scored fewer goals than the Yellow and Blues. Verona have scored only 29 goals and no player has more than four goals. Juventus loanee Moise Kean is tied for the team led in scoring. The Yellow and Blues are awful going forward and only slightly better defending. Only Benevento have allowed more goals than Verona. With Juve looking to send Buffon off with a clean sheet and a win in his final game, it could be an ugly game for the already relegated club.
