The Serie A season concludes on Sunday with AC Milan hosting Fiorentina at the San Siro. Milan are guaranteed of a spot in Europa League next season but a loss could force them to go through the qualification stages. Fiorentina are eighth in Serie A, four points behind Milan. If the Lillies win on Sunday and Atalanta lose, Fiorentina could finish seventh and advance to the Europa League qualification stage next season.
Milan drew 1-1 with Atalanta last weekend to clinch a Europa League spot despite going down to 10 men. Gennaro Gattuso has done an incredible job turning around the Red and Blacks since taking over for Vincenzo Montello. In 2018, Milan have lost only two games, picking up 36 points in 17 games. Suso has had a strong season for Milan, driving play on the right-wing. The Brazilian has scored six goals and adding 10 assists this season.
Fiorentina’s Europa League hopes took a big hit last weekend when they lost to Cagliari 1-0. The Lillies have won only two of their last five games. Giovanni Simeone leads the club with 13 goals this season. The son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has closed the season strong. Simeone has scored six goals in the last nine games. Fiorentina will focus on getting Simeone and Federico Chiesa the ball in attacking areas.
