Rockies at Dodgers

Rockies Probable Starter – German Marquez, RHP

5.15 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 21.2 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .292 average, .337 wOBA, 32.4 fly ball rate and 32.4 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .286 average, .376 wOBA, 23.8 fly ball rate and 30.3 hard contact rate

For his poor ERA and WHIP, Marquez has actually done a reasonable job at limiting both fly balls and hard contact. If you want to chase Dodger hitters, I’d likely stick with the guys that could get out of the yard. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger seem very expensive compared to other high end options tonight and I’ll have little to no exposure. Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig would likely be my go-to plays here but I don’t think I’m going to have a ton of this game period. I’m not playing Marquez and the Dodgers offense really doesn’t compare well to other offenses tonight.

Dodgers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig

Secondary Options – Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Yasmani Grandal

Dodgers Probable Starter – Walker Buehler, RHP

2.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 30.5 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .238 average, .294 wOBA, 28.6 fly ball rate and 34.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .200 average, .216 wOBA, 20.5 fly ball rate and 43.6 hard contact rate

He might be the most expensive option tonight but Buehler is my favorite pitching play in a vacuum. It makes things a little harder to fit in all the offense that I’d want but the Rockies are just not good on the road this year. Away from Coors Field, they rank 15th in strikeout percentage, 28th in average, 27th in OPS, 20th in ISO and 27th in wOBA against righty pitching. Two of the Rockies most dangerous hitters are right handed. If Buehler can limit Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl, he could be in a very good spot. There’s risk everywhere for pitchers tonight. Buehler has some of the lowest risk of anyone.

Elite Options – Charlie Blackmon

Secondary Options – David Dahl

Home Run Pick – Matt Kemp

Sample Lineup

P – Jose Berrios

C/1B – Wilmer Flores

2B – Jonathan Schoop

3B – Jake Lamb

SS – Manny Machado

OF – Tyler O’Neil, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge

Utility – J.T. Realmuto

As much as I do like Buehler, I left him off this list so I can chase some big name offensive players. I’ll punt the C/1B spot with Flores, who has been better against righties than he’s getting credit for. Schoop and Machado are solid ways to attack Hector Santiago and Lamb is typically near $4,000 when he gets a righty and in a good hitting environment,. I’ll take two cheap outfielders to pair with the huge bat of Judge and then polish it off with a righty against Jason Vargas in Realmuto.

Stacks to Consider – Orioles(at White Sox), Yankees(at Texas), Cardinals(vs Kansas City) and Braves(at Philadelphia)
