3. Blake Treinen

Treinen is enjoying the best season of his career in Oakland. He’s sporting an excellent ERA of just 1.19 in his 17 relief appearances for the A’s. The Dodgers shouldn’t pay for that level of production moving forward, but he’d be an excellent boost to their bullpen.

He may not have quite as good a stuff as current Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen, but he’s been a more effective pitcher this season. The two could combine for an excellent duo at the end of the game in LA.

Finding the right value for him in a trade with the Athletics might be a little difficult. They’re going to want to ask a price commensurate with how he’s pitching this season. The Dodgers would want to pay something closer to how he’s pitched over his career. Overcommitting to relief pitchers is something that can really come back to haunt you.

In the end, it’s still a deal that LA should be able to get done. The A’s aren’t in contention and Treinen is already 29-years-old. A mid-tier prospect should be enough to make Oakland happy and give the Dodgers bullpen another key late-inning piece.
