Rockies at Dodgers

Rockies Probable Starter – Kyle Freeland, LHP

3.17 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 22.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .156 average, .230 wOBA, 30.4 fly ball rate and 20.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .237 average, .298 wOBA, 36.0 fly ball rate and 26.6 hard contact rate

Before everyone sees Freeland away from Colorado and go running for him, be warned that he’s been worse in away games than home games since his career started last year. I actually have some mild interest in a few Dodgers hitters, mainly being Kike Hernadez and Justin Turner.

Even Matt Kemp is at a very reasonable price and could be used this evening with a little bit of confidence. I think this is another night when most people will fade the late games for the most part. Hernandez is the best play from a strict price point perspective.

Dodgers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Justin Turner, Kike Hernandez, Matt Kemp

Secondary Options – Yasmani Grandal, Chris Taylor

Dodgers Probable Starter – Kenta Maeda, RHP

3.89 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 28.6 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .292 average, .355 wOBA, 32.8 fly ball rate and 35.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .209 average, .268 wOBA, 34.5 fly ball rate and 33.9 hard contact rate

If you could guarantee me that Made would actually make it six innings, he’d be my second favorite pitcher on this slate, hands down. The Rockies lineup really isn’t good away from Coors Field but Maeda has logged a quality start twice in 10 starts.

On top of that, he’s gone over 40 points just twice as well. On a night when deGrom could go bonkers, you can’t fall that far behind on the pitcher spot. About the only Rockie hitter that I really y have a ton of interest in is Charlie Blackmon. He could be quite the lat night hammer that comes in at a low ownership percentage.

Rockies Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Charlie Blackmon, David Dahl(if he plays)

Secondary Options – Nolan Areanado, Carlos Gonzalez

Home Run Pick – Matt Kemp

LOS ANGELES, CA – MAY 13: Joey Votto #19 of the Cincinnati Reds is greeted in the dugout after a two run home run in the sixth inning of the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on May 13, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Jayne Kamin-Oncea/Getty Images)

Sample Lineup

P – Jacob deGrom

C/1B – Luke Maile

2B – Josh Harrison

3B – Miguel Andujar

SS – Marcus Semien

OF – Mark Trumbo, Scott Schebler, Chad Pinder

Utility – Joey Votto

As far as a cash lineup goes, deGrom is the stone cold lock of the century…of the week(Aqua Teen Hunger Force fans assemble for that joke).  I hope Toronto is smart enough to play Maile against a lefty, albeit a good one. I’m not in love with going back to Harrison but second abase is kind of gross in the mid-tier tonight.

I really want to fit in Joey Votto so some sacrifices may need to be made. Andujar fits the profile of two to target against Fister, Semien and Pinder fomr a nice little A’s stack and then we finish off with a couple of solid outfielders in Trumbo and Schebler.

The Core – Full disclosure, I typically write this overnight so it could change during the day. However, I want to start conveying who my building blocks are. These are the players that I don’t really move around when toying with lineup construction. About the only way they change is if they don’t start that day. Today’s core is deGrom, Pinder and Votto.

Stacks to Consider – Pirates or Reds, Yankees(at Texas), Red Sox(at Tampa), Cubs(vs Cleveland), Orioles(at Chicago) and A’s(vs Seattle)
