Is CP3O in Solo: A Star Wars Story? With the movie right around the corner, we have all the information you need to get you ready for the film. Be warned, there are some spoilers in this article.
One constant in the numerous Star Wars films over the years has been actor Anthony Daniels, who has played C3PO. Audiences first saw the now-famous robot in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, and he’s appeared in every film since from key roles in the Skywalker saga films, to a brief cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Warning, there are spoilers below. You’ve been warned.
Daniels will appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but not as the golden protocol droid.
In an article on Uproxx, writer Jonathan Kasdan, who wrote the script with his father Lawrence Kasdan, revealed Daniels’ role in the upcoming movie. It was originally reported that Daniels would play a Wookie; however, the actor will be a human in the film.
"“Update: Well, as it turns out, Anthony Daniels role as a Wookie was short lived. Jonathan Kasdan has emailed us with a correction, which we are posting below. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, Daniels plays a character named Tak (in honor of famed cinematographer Tak Fujimoto) who shares a scene on Kessel with the Wookies, but Daniels is playing a human and not a Wookie.”"
It will certainly be interesting to see how Daniels’ impacts the overall plot of the movie, even if it is a role akin to a cameo.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, the film will focus on Han’s early years.
Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters around the country on May 25, 2018. Also starring in the film are Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Chewbacca, Woody Harrelson (Three Billboards Outside Ebbbing, Missouri) as Beckett, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Qi’ra, Thandie Newton (Westworld) as Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as L3-37 and Paul Bettany(Avengers: Infinity War) as Dryden Vos.
