Mets at Brewers – Main Slate

Mets Probable Starter – Steven Matz, LHP

4.42 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 22.9 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .182 average, .313 wOBA, 12.5 fly ball rate and 5.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .241 average, .359 wOBA, 43.2 fly ball rate and 41.2 hard contact rate

Matz may not be the greatest pitcher ever, but he has shut down lefties without much issue so far this year. He’s allowing virtual no fly balls and even less hard contact. We’ll have exactly zero Brewer lefties in our lineup with that stat staring at us. Lorenzo Cain is a fantastic play and might be one of the best on the slate given his $3,500 price tag. His wOBA is just a hair under .500 for the year against lefties. One way to afford some of the more expensive bats is to play Manny Pina. He’s been swinging a much better bat lately and is in a good spot as well. Jesus Aguilar rounds out the Brewers that I really have some serious interest in.

Brewers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Lorenzo Cain, Jesus Aguilar, Manny Pina

Secondary Options – Travis Shaw, Tyler Saladino

Brewers Probable Starter – Zach Davies, RHP

4.24 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 17.2 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .214 average, .292 wOBA, 35.7 fly ball rate and 34.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .257 average, .344 wOBA, 31.7 fly ball rate and 45.2 hard contact rate

Davies is a pitcher you would think we could target across the board and that’s a possibility, but I get the feeling that it’ll be super annoying if you roster Mets. Maybe I’m wrong but there’s other offenses who I want a piece of. Brandon Nimmo is just $3,100 which is a great price but it’s hard to make room for him given the other options. Wilmer Flores remains cheap but does have a .399 wOBA against righties so far this season. I likely won’t have many Mets tonight even on a small slate.

Mets Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Brandon Nimmo, Wilmer Flores, Asdrubal Cabrera

Secondary Options – Devin Mesoraco, Michael Conforto

Home Run Pick – Manny Pina

Sample Lineup – Early Slate

P – Dylan Bundy

C/1B – Chris Davis

2B – Josh Harrison

3B – Pedro Alvarez

SS – Manny Machado

OF – Mike Trout, Curtis Granderson, Jesse Winker

Utility – Andrelton Simmons

I can’t wait to play a chalky Dylan Bundy because I feel like it could go poorly for him. There’s just a lack of options for pitching so we’ll have to hope the bats come through as well. I’ll take three Orioles agains Lucas Giolito without much hesitation. Josh Harrison is read hot since he returned from the disabled list and is due for a home run somewhat soon. Granderson is on the right side of the splits, Winker is the punt to make things work and the two Angels are in a rock solid matchup.

Sample Lineup – Main Slate

P- Rick Porcello

C/1B – Manny Pina

2B – Brock Holt

3B – Mike Moustakas

SS – Alcides Ecobar

OF – Mookie Betts, Delino DeShields, Lorenzo Cain

Utility – Jesus Aguilar

Porcello is in a solid matchup and is basically locked in for cash for me tonight. We have to get a little creative to fit in Betts but I’m not going into a three game slate without him, regardless of how else I make it work. I’ll attack Matz with Brewers righties, punt shortstop with Escobar(gross), take one-offs of DeShields and Moustakas and finish it off with Betts. I do feel like every time I’ve played Moustakas, he’s come through so hopefully that continues.

Core Plays

Early – Dylan Bundy, Manny Machado, Mike Torut, Pedro Alvarez

Main – Rick Porcello, Mookie Betts, Lorenzo Cain
