. G. Frankfurt Skyliners. Isaac Bonga. 59. player. 66

Bonga is quietly shaping up to enter the list of massive point guards that could reshape the league alongside Ben Simmons over the next several seasons. When you think about the type of player who could bust switching defenses, it has to look a lot like Simmons, Bonga or even Luka Doncic. The Suns, who have said they will likely not keep four rookies next season, can afford to stash a youngster overseas with one of their four picks.

The best recent example of his all-around potential is his box score from April 20, a game in which Bonga posted 8 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. The 18-year-old, who won’t be 19 until November, also added a 3-pointer. He’s very raw, as evidenced by his inconsistent playing time in a middling European league, but Phoenix is in no rush to add youngsters to their league-youngest roster. Bonga may well be part of the future of basketball if his development progresses as planned.

The Suns may seem like a team that needs to add talent based on fit, but they are still very much in a best player available situation. So even if the Suns take Doncic at No. 1 and install him as their primary playmaker, it’s not inconceivable that Bonga could come to America in a couple years and be the backup in Phoenix or try and make it work on the court with the Suns’ current core.

The German point forward is someone to monitor going forward.
