Creighton. Khryi Thomas. 31. player. 66. . G

Thomas reportedly interviewed with the Suns at the combine last week, and he clearly fits the mold of a versatile backcourt partner for Devin Booker that the Suns need to target this summer. To be able to get a cheap option at the other guard spot in the draft would be extremely valuable, and fill in the depth behind incumbent starter Brandon Knight and potential No. 1 pick Luka Doncic.

The junior shot 41 percent from 3 at Creighton, and he’s one of the strongest players at his position in the draft class. I believe there are better options to defend smaller guards in this range, such as Jevon Carter or Kenrich Williams, but Thomas’s buzz has been growing since the end of the season to the point that he easily could land in the first round, and it’s tough to imagine he falls further than this Phoenix pick.

Thomas could easily be the kind of player who contributes right away for a young team, again leading to the idea that he could be taken in the first round by a team in need of talent. He might not be in position to play early on for the Suns.

However, there are so many wings, from Melvin Frazier to Kevin Huerter, who are doing well for themselves this summer, that a guard like Thomas could fall. While he surely falls into a valuable player archetype, he is entering a league where very few teams need guards.
