1. Colorado Rockies

The Rockies deserve a lot of credit for maintaining the lead in the NL West despite the lack of production from Ian Desmond. The Colorado first basemen has nearly cost his team a full win on the young season with a WAR of -.9. Hitting .181 at the plate isn’t a good way to provide positive value for your club.

While the Rockies currently sit atop the division, they’re only clear of the Diamondbacks by half a game. It’s clear they are going to be in a dogfight for the full season. Acquiring someone like Ramirez could help them keep pace with Arizona over the long haul.

The Rockies might be motivated to make a trade for Ramirez despite his hefty salary. Again, it’s important to remember that Boston will be more than happy to give him for free. It’s only going to cost the Rockies money. There won’t be any talent of significant included in the deal.

The idea of a first basemen in Colorado failing to provide positive value is almost unheard of. It’s a great hitter’s park in thin air. It’s very possible Hanley Ramirez could thrive playing for the Rockies.
