Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

It’s a long shot, but then again stranger things have happened. It would appear highly unlikely that Napoli would want to part with one of their biggest stars, but it has happened before. When Juve nabbed striker Gonzalo Higuain from them back in the summer of 2016, it led Napoli fans to burn his jersey in the streets. Insigne’s departure would be even harder for a club that came in second this past season and only blew their chances at the title in the final weeks of the season.

Insigne is a dynamic player and one of the best to come out of Italy in recent years. He’s comfortable on the wings and a large threat in the box. This past season, the diminutive Insigne, whose contract at Napoli expires in 2022, recorded 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 matches across all competitions. Under coach Maurizio Sarri, Insigne played primarily on the left wing and paired well with Dries Mertens. With Sarri now gone, anything could happen.

As Napoli look at add new players, this could be the chance for Insigne to move on and play for a big club. Insigne would make Juve stronger on the wings and we already know he pairs well with Higuain from their time just a few seasons ago. A move would also weaken Napoli’s attack, another way for Juve to continue exerting their domestic dominance.
