FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Saturday, May 26
White Sox at Tigers
White Sox Probable Starter – Hector Santiago, LHP
5.17 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 20.1 strikeout rate
VS LHH – .297 average, .406 wOBA, 34.5 fly ball rate and 31.0 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .241 average, .345 wOBA, 61.0 fly ball rate and 30.5 hard contact rate
Give me all the Nicholas Castellanos on this slate today. He crushes lefties and Santiago is giving up a 61 percent fly ball rate. He’s likely my favorite player on the slate that’s under $4,000 and he’s part of the Core today. A sneaky under the radar play is James McCann, because a lot of DFS players don’t play a catcher when they don’t have to and McCann has a wOBA of .406 against lefties on the season. The same goes for Jose Iglesias who has been hitting lefties well. I have a hard time seeing Santiago having any success today.
Tigers Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Nicholas Castellanos, James McCann
Secondary Options – Jose Iglesias, Nick Goodrum
Tigers Probable Starter – Francisco Liriano, LHP
3.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 17.6 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .087 average, .160 wOBA, 40.6 fly ball rate and 18.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .228 average, .322 wOBA, 37.5 fly ball rate and 31.9 hard contact rate
If you’ve been around this column from the start of the season, a lefty against the White Sox means two players – Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson. It’s a little more dangerous than usual because Liriano can strike hitters out when things are going well. He’s striking out righties only 14.5 percent of the time so that doesn’t make me quite as worried, although Anderson especially can be a strikeout victim. Abreu is a tougher decision since he’s $3,900 but he’s a great play in a vacuum. Liriano could be a solid option in GPP’s but there’s enormous risk there as well.
White Sox Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson
Secondary Options – Matt Davidson
Home Run Pick – Nicholas Castellanos
Mets and Brewers
Mets Probable Starter – Jason Vargas, LHP
9.87 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 18.4 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .300 average, .460 wOBA, 50.0 fly ball rate and 25.0 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .379 average, ..450 wOBA, 38.6 fly ball rate and 34.8 hard contact rate
Another reason I’ve hated the Miami Marlins lately is because they couldn’t take advantage of Jason Vargas in his last start. He’s been awful so far, unless he pitched against the Marlins. I don’t think he’ll find the same success in Milwaukee and any Brewers bat in the tp half of the lineup are great plays. Lorenzo Cain let me down the last time I played him but I’m going right back to the well tonight. I also want Jesus Aguilar in this game and a full on Brewers stack is in play tonight. I think you’re crazy if you play Vargas, even coming after a big game.
Brewers Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Lorenzo Cain, Jesus Aguilar, Ryan Braun
Secondary Options – Travis Shaw, Domingo Santana
Chase Anderson, RHP
3.86 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 15.9 strikeout rate
Vs LHH – .204 average, .298 wOBA, 47.2 fly ball rate and 31.3 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .220 average, .345 wOBA, 44.6 fly ball rate and 35.1 hard contact rate
Anderson is another pitcher I will be staying away from today because of the combo of the matchup and the park he’s pitching in. Fresh off a huge game two nights ago, Brandon Nimmo is the best player from the Mets. He should lead off and he’s hit righties very well for awhile now. Maybe he’ll go overlooked again today. Anderson has a good ERA and WHIP but that fly ball rate is going to be hard to live with for sure. I’m not all that interested in a huge Mets stack because Anderson doesn’t seem to get blown up often. The flip side of that is he almost always gives up runs in every start.
Mets Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Brandon Nimmo, Asdrubal Cabrera
Secondary Options – Amed Rosario, Michael Conforto
Home Run Pick – Jesus Aguilar
