Kyle Busch on pole for Coca-Cola 600: See the full starting grid for Charlotte
By Nick Tylwalk
See how the 40 competitors for this year’s Coca-Cola 600 will line up to take the green flag on Sunday night.
One of the fastest drivers so far during the 2018 NASCAR season will start from the pole Sunday night for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. An even faster one will start 39th out of 40 cars.
Kyle Busch, incredibly still looking for his first Charlotte while he chases his fourth win of the season, is the pole-sitter. Meanwhile, Kevin Harvick, who has had nearly everything go his way since the week after Daytona, ran into some trouble trying to get through inspection and never even made a qualifying lap. As a result, he’ll chase down potential Coca-Cola 600 glory from almost the tail end of the field.
That won’t be easy since a few other drivers who have been fast this year are starting toward the front, including Joey Logano, who joins Kyle Busch in Row 1, and Denny Hamlin, right behind them starting third. One good sign for Chevrolet fans is how well those cars did in qualifying, relatively speaking, with Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray both in the top 10 and Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon just outside it.
The same could not be said for the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets, however, as all four are starting 21st or worse. The struggles of one of NASCAR’s most prominent teams have been a storyline all season, and watching to see if its drivers can shake off the doldrums in the sport’s longest race should be fascinating.
Here’s a look at how all 40 cars — yep, there’s actually a completely full field for Charlotte — will roll off for the Coca-Cola 600. The race broadcast begins on FOX at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, and we’ll have extensive coverage of it right here on FanSided.com.
