15. Virginia Tech (Maroon)

Every country has its display of greatness it shows foreigners upon arrival. For most of the world, the athletic spectacle of their particular country is a soccer match. Certain venues such as Madison Square Garden, Lambeau Field and Fenway Park come to mind for the United States, and for good reason. However, in America, it’s a Saturday night in a college town. Many would steer you in the direction of Columbus, Baton Rouge, Gainesville or Ann Arbor, but there’s one name a majority leave off the list — Blacksburg. Virginia Tech has built a reputation as one of the most underrated game day venues in the country. With the success the Hokies have had over the last few years, everything about the program is top-notch. Including its uniforms.

Much like Bowling Green, the Hokies’ color combination is a bit odd. That being said, also like the the small Ohio school, Virginia Tech’s weird color combination is a thing of beauty. The Hokies wear a maroon-based jersey with orange and white as complimentary colors. Surely the jerseys won’t be everyone’s cup of tea — especially considering the heavy orange presence. Not only does the orange appear on the shoulder in the form of a line, but on the collar as well. The solid orange collar makes for a nice touch as there is nothing intricate about it. Nothing forced, just thick orange with a white “VT” in the center.

As for the other details about the jersey, white lettering and numbering in a rather basic font round out a robust uniform. Much like the atmosphere and the team, Virginia Tech’s uniforms are underrated and secretly up there with the best of them.
