5. Arizona State (Maroon)
The Arizona State Sun Devils have multiple luxuries at their disposal which make it nearly impossible to leave them off this list. First off, their mascot is the Sun Devil. If that isnāt one of the coolest mascots in the NCAA, I donāt know what is. Second, their school colors are maroon and gold. Maroon is the color of some of the most storied teams in the nation, such asĀ Virginia Tech, USC and Texas A&M. Meanwhile, gold breeds a winning culture. With a solid squad returning next season, Herm Edwards at the helm and these uniforms, theyāre set up for success in Tempe.
Despite having some of the coolest alternate uniforms in the country, itās the basic maroon jersey which looks best on the Sun Devils. The maroon jersey features a background patternĀ ā common in Adidas jerseysĀ ā that adds another layer to the maroon majority. The lettering and numbering are painted in gold. Further, the numbers feature a black outline. The Adidas stripes shine gold, but the Pac-12 patch is maroon with a golden outline.
However, as is the case with most uniforms, the most unique part is the sleeves. On the sleeves, a golden stripe outlines the bottom of the sleeve. As it inches closer to the front, it spikes upwards, forming a pitchfork-like image. Doing this on both sides creates a pitchfork image to match the helmets in which the team is wearing.
Itās ultimately the pitchfork sleeves which makes this jersey so amazing. Although these uniforms may be favorites to the fans, Edwards still believes these uniforms are too small and likely doesnāt enjoy them. Lighten up coach, itās a new era in football!
