Vegas Knights fans

The Vegas Golden Knights are in the Stanley Cup Final. If this sentence was typed a year ago, it would have been extremely laughable. If typed two years ago, would have drawn confusion as they team did not exist.

Many criticized the NHL’s move to Vegas, saying that none of the fans would be local and the games would be sold out with tourists who don’t care about hockey. Boy, were they wrong.

Over 150 Golden Knights fans lined up for tattoos before a playoff game this year. Over 150 people permanently branded themselves Knights fans before seeing a game. First, it’s incredible that this was even allowed, let alone how popular it was. Second, the Knights, who most said would not have a lick of a local fan base, are now in the running to be the most insane.

The (ongoing) Vegas story is incredible. The team was picked from a pool of unwanted players , many of which are having career seasons with the Knights. Most importantly, goaltender Marc-André Fleury is trying to become the first goaltender to win three straight Stanley Cups on two separate teams.

Don’t ever doubt the Knights fans. After the incredible success story this season, they’ve built a fan base for life. Don’t try to say that the expansion team winning is bad for the league or the city either, because that is nonsense.

The parity in the NHL is what makes it great and keeps it from being extremely boring and repetitive like its basketball counterpart. The Vegas underdog story is something we’ll likely never witness again and is definitely worthy of some more tattoos.
