The Houston Rockets superstar will miss chis team’s crucial Game 7.

If one were to sum up the 2018 NBA season into a single narrative, it would be “what could have been.” With injuries plaguing playoff teams like the Celtics and Cavs, another team has found itself a victim of the injury bug — the Houston Rockets. After missing Game 6 with a hamstring injury, it was announced Houston superstar Chris Paul would miss Game 7 as well.

Of course, having Paul on the floor is a luxury for nearly any team, but one that is closer to a necessity when trying to beat the Golden State Warriors. In his first season with the Rockets, Paul has averaged 18.6 points in just over 31 minutes per game. Further, he’s added 7.9 assists. CP3 played a huge part in the Rockets’ success this season, as they finished the regular season with the best record in the league. However, he was injured in a massive Game 5 win that saw Houston pull within one game of the finals.

After getting blown out in Game 6, the Rockets face a tough task at home in Game 7. That task just became even more difficult. Houston found itself in the driver’s seat at halftime at Game 6. Alas, the Warriors were too much for the Rockets. Golden State used a 64-point second half to even the series and send it to a Game 7.

Without Paul, the Rockets are likely to turn to Houston native Gerald Green for help. Green — who spent most of the season on the bench — played a massive 26 minutes in Game 6. The Rockets will need Green to contribute more than the 11 points he gave in Game 6, however, if they want to win tonight. In addition, expect to see the Rockets starting five — Harden, Gordon, Ariza, Tucker and Capela — a lot tonight. Each of those starters tallied 34 minutes or more in Game 6.
