Mets at Braves

Mets Probable Pitcher – Steven Matz, LHP

3.80 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 21.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .208 average, .336 wOBA, 11.1 fly ball rate and 10.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .230 average, .338 wOBA, 42.3 fly ball rate and 41.6 hard contact rate

The Braves get another lefty tonight and I know one player I’m going to bro running towards and it’s Ozzie Albies. He’s back under $4,000 and that’s a green light for me. Matz is having a solid year but the Braves are one of the worst matchups for lefties in baseball. It’s a real bummer that they won’t have Ronald Acuna in the lineup but at least the young man dodged a major injury on Sunday. I don’t have any interest in Matz tonight because the floor is so low. He’s done well against lefties so far but Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis are some of the best lefty/lefty hitters in the league.

Braves Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, Nick Markakis

Secondary Options – Tyler Flowers/Kurt Suzuki(whoever is catching), Dansby Swanson

Braves Probable Starter – Anibal Sanchez, RHP

1.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 24.1 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .200 average, .262 wOBA, 36.4 fly ball rate and 27.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .226 average, .288 wOBA, 26.9 fly ball rate and 11.5 hard contact rate

I have a policy to not start fringe starters coming off a lengthy stint on the disabled list and tonight will be no different. It looks like Sanchez has some great metrics and he does but they’ve come in two starts. I wouldn’t trust him even in tournament settings tonight. I’d probably lean towards some Mets lefties but the pricing on one of them makes it difficult. I’m not paying $3,000 for Jay Bruce with 13 other games to choose from. Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto are better plays at their price points and you could always head for Asdrubal Cabrera as well.

Elite Options – Michael Conforto, Brandon Nimmo

Secondary Options – Asdrubal Cabrera

Home Run Pick –  Dansby Swanson

PITTSBURGH, PA – MAY 26: Marcell Ozuna #23, Harrison Bader #48 and Tommy Pham #28 of the St. Louis Cardinals celebrate after defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 at PNC Park on May 26, 2018 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)

Cardinals at Brewers

Cardinals Probable Starter – Michael Wacha, RHP

2.88 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 21.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .200 average, .223 wOBA, 27.2 fly ball rate and 37.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .255 average, .337 wOBA, 30.8 fly ball rate and 45.0 hard contact rate

If these splits hold up during this game, Wacha could be in for a long night tonight. That’s a ton of hard contact given up to righties and the Brewers are generally right-handed heavy. You could make the argument to use Wacha in tournaments because the Brewers do tend to strike out quite often(24.7 percent against righties). That’s not where I’m going to go because I think Milwaukee gets the better of this spot. My number one target is going to be Jesus Aguilar because he’s the cheapest of the Brewers big bats. Domingo Santana is also in the mix but not quite as attractive. I think I’d skip paying for Christian Yelich and Travis Shaw today so the only other player that really interests me is Lorenzo Cain.

Brewer Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Jesus Aguilar, Lorenzo Cain, Domingo Santana

Secondary Options – Christian Yelich, Travis Shaw

Brewers Probable Starter – Zach Davies, RHP

4.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 16.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .254 average, .337 wOBA, 32.7 fly ball rate and 39.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .247 average, .331 wOBA, 31.8 fly ball rate and 45.6 hard contact rate

I’m having a hard time finding any real reason to play Davies in Miller Park tonight and I don’t think it’s going to happen. There’s no strikeouts to cover up for any mistakes and the Cardinals have good enough hitters to give him a hard time. Since there’s no real splits here, we’re just going to want the Cardinals batters that are good against righties. Tyler O’Neil leads the team in wOBA but is also risky with a strikeout rate of almost 40 percent. Matt Carpenter has come to life but $3,800 is scary for his body of work in 2018. Tommy Pham is almost always the best player off the Cardinals and tonight is no different.

Elite Options – Tommy Pham, Jose Martinez

Secondary Options – Tyler O’Neil, Matt Carpenter, Marcell Ozuna

Home Run Pick – Tyler O’Neil
