Twins at Royals

Twins Probable Starter – Kyle Gibson, RHP

4.02 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24.3 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .235 average, .302 wOBA, 41.9 fly ball rate and 33.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .208 average, .297 wOBA, 27.3 fly ball rate and 39.3 hard contact rate

Gibson hasn’t had his best stuff lately and he’s not a pitcher that can get away with that. I wouldn’t play him tonight because the Royals don’t strikeout enough for Gibson to have any real upside. This is one off the spots that I’m basically crossing off the list on a slate this size. Mike Moustakas is the only one-off I’d want and the only other way I would attack Gibson is with a full Royals stack.

Royals Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Mike Moustakas

Secondary Options – Salvador Perez, Jorge Soler

Royals Probable Starter – Danny Duffy, LHP

6.14 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 18.7 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .213 average, .264 wOBA, 47.2 fly ball rate and 40.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .297 average, .405 wOBA, 44.4 fly ball rate and 40.1 hard contact rate

This is a very weird spot for Duffy. First, he’s coming off one of his better starts of the season against the Rangers. Secondary, he’s pitched well against lefties so far and the Twins have a bunch of lefties. Max Kepler actually leads the Twins in wOBA against lefties even though he himself is a lefty. The main two players I want against Duffy is Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano. Dozier especially is a great play at $3,600. He’s been uneven at best but there’s a reason he’s so relatively cheap given the matchup. I wouldn’t risk Duffy tonight even in GPP’s.

Secondary Options – Max Kepler, Eduardo Escobar

Giants at Rockies

Giants Probable Starter – Jeff Samardzija, RHP

6.23 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15.6 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .288 average, .405 wOBA, 54.3 fly ball rate and 27.7 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .221 average, .295 wOBA, 41.0 fly ball rate and 29.7 hard contact rate

We have a Coors Field game on the slate and you better believe you need some pieces of it to keep pace. It helps that the pitching is generally cheap because one of the best plays on the entire slate is a $5,400 Charlie Blackmon. David Dahl stands out and so do Gerardo Parra and Carlos Gonzalez, whichever of that trio finds the field. You’re a braver player than me if you rolled out Samardzija. One under the radar play is Ryan McMahon. He’s been brutal this season but he bats left handed and is only $3,000. That’s as cheap as a hitter really gets in Coors.

Rockies Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Charlie Blackmon, David Dahl, Carlos Gonzalez, Gerado Parra

Secondary Options – Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story

Rockies Probable Starter – Kyle Freeland, LHP

3.28 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 21.1 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .167 average, .241 wOBA, 30.8 fly ball rate and 22.2 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .237 average, .298 wOBA, 34.5 fly ball rate and 27.4 hard contact rate

I still might have a few Giants hitters in the lineup for tonight, but it’s smart to recognize that across over 216 innings, Freeland has always pitched better at home. It’s always weird to see that because you just automatically assume that pitchers are going to be worse in Denver. Maybe they figure out how to tweak some things at home. I still wouldn’t mind taking a stab at a couple righties from the Giants though I likely won’t be as heavy as some other players. Buster Posey is one of the cheapest ways to go and he has a nice floor given his environment. Gorkys Hernandez is likely going to be extremely popular after his big game yesterday as well.

Giants Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Buster Posey, Gorkys Hernandez, Andrew McCutchen

Secondary Options – Evan Longoria, Mac Williamson, Brandon Belt

Home Run Pick – Carlos Gonzalez
