Marlins at Padres

Marlins Probable Starter – Dan Straily, RHP

3.12 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17.0 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .255 average, .397 wOBA, 33.3 fly ball rate and 51.2 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .128 average, .219 wOBA, 46.9 fly ball rate and 46.9 hard contact rate

If you really want the salary to spend on bats, Straily is definitely a solid option tonight. The metrics aren’t fantastic for Straily but he was coming back from injury. He’s started to look like himself and he gets such a juicy matchup tonight. The Padres strikeout at the highest rate in baseball against righty pitching and Straily has handled his business against righties. The only two lefties that could hurt Straily on paper are Travis Jankowski and Eric Hosmer. Franchy Cordero is on the disable list and I think Straily has legit 40 point upside.

Padres Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Eric Hosmer, Travis Jankowski

Padres Probable Starter – Tyson Ross, RHP

3.13 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 25.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .286 average, .349 wOBA, 23.1 fly ball rate and 39.2 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .141 average, .203 wOBA, 34.9 fly ball rate and 39.8 hard contact rate

I don’t know what Ross has to do to see his price raise but I’m fine with it being where it is too. Ross should be more expensive than he is give his matchup and the pitcher’s park he’s in tonight. The only lefty that has the power to hurt Ross is Justin Bour but I wouldn’t bank on that. The Marlins don’t have many hitters that are rated highly against the slider, which is a major weapon for Ross. The Padres pitcher is enjoying a really good season and it’s between he and Blake Snell as my favorite cash pitchers with Straily not far behind.

Marlins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Justin Bour

Home Run Pick – None, I think the starters are going to run this game

Sample Lineup

P – Dan Straily

C/1B – Mike Zunino

2B – Brian Dozier

3B – Miguel Sano

SS – Dansby Swanson

OF – David Dahl, Charlie Blackmon, Leonys Martin

Utility – Ozzie Albies

As I mentioned earlier, it’s a little bit of an odd slate since there’s no chalky big spend at pitcher. Seeing how that’s the case, I’m going to take the salary savings I can and plug in Straily. I still really love Snell and Ross and might still possibly use them. Mike Zunino is in a good spot since he’s facing a contact pitcher. Dozier and Sano are likely going to be the highest owned non-Coors players, but we have the two Coors bats that should be the most popular. Blackmon is going to be locked in for me. You have the salary to play him. If you don’t and he goes off, you likely will not hit the cash line tonight. Leonys Martin and Albies are more against the grain players and Swanson is kind of the “last man in”, though I still might punt SS with Jordy Mercer.

The Core – Charlie Blackmon, David Dahl, Brian Dozier(Sano is right on the edge)

Stacks To Consider – Rockies(vs San Francisco), Braves(vs New York Mets), Astros(at New York Yankees), Red Sox(vs Toronto), and Rangers(at Seattle)
